Santander in Latin America
The business that will join Santander in Latin America is Business Unit (BU) Latin America (excluding wholesale clients outside Brazil). This includes Banco Real in Brazil and the banks in Uruguay and Paraguay. Since the consortium acquisition, Santander has also agreed to acquire Global Clients in Brazil from RBS and asset management activities in Brazil from Fortis.
Santander has a strong presence in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Colombia. Santander is currently the fourth largest bank in Brazil.
